Idyllic weather is exactly what you want when you have a choice of 24 beaches within 5 minutes east and west of town. No wonder Tocumwal has been attracting travellers for over 100 years.
First on the agenda for most visitors is finding the perfect patch of sand to settle in with a good book. Once you’ve ticked that off your list, take a walk through the picturesque surrounding forests, jump on-board for a kayak or canoe down the river, throw in a line, bird watch, or pick up the pace with a waterski.
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, make your way back into town to be treated to the best of the surrounding region’s flavours. Dine in one of Tocumwal’s historic buildings, before you indulge in a spot of antique shopping or just linger on in an historic pub for a good brew and an even better yarn with one of the local characters.
Trot down Main Street to see one of the best-loved of those locals; the giant Murray Cod who watches over the stretch of river passing Tocumwal. Don’t forget the photo, this is one fishy tale you’ll need visual proof of.
No such tall tales are needed when it comes to the local golf course– the magnificent 36-hole championship course speaks for itself.
