Murray River Road

Albury and Wodonga

Albury Wodonga is about the good things in life – relaxation, time with friends, amazing outdoor activities including cycling and walking tracks, delicious local food and wine and great shopping, art and theatre.

Albury was known by the local Wiradjuri and early settlers as ‘Bungambrewatah’. The area was a convenient place to cross the Murray (in summer it was sometimes possible to walk across the river here), and became a popular meeting place for different indigenous groups.

These days the two cities blend an urban vibe with easy living in a stunning location on the banks of the Murray River. It’s still a great place to meet, too. As a popular kick-off point on the Murray River Road, it’s a great place for friends to rendezvous.

The best way to experience Albury Wodonga is to do what the locals do – ride your bike, jump in a canoe, pull out the golf clubs or simply wind down the window and explore, taste and enjoy.
