Splash Around Sun Country

Soak up the sun and get drenched in the fun of our aquatic attractions.

When you’ve got weather as great as we have, cooling off in the water is second nature. Luckily, there are lots of opportunities for all-ages water fun along the river and lake and in our welcoming towns.

Splash Parks

You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy the aqua action at one of our fun, free splash parks. Everything that sprays, squirts and drenches is available. Bring your bathers and get ready for action!

Tocumwal Splash Park

  • Tocumwal Splash Park
    The newest of our splashparks makes a quiet nod to the town’s proud WW2 history as US and RAAF base. The fun includes a B24-style dumper bucket, water cannon and ‘propeller’ showers, along with more than 100 water features. The park is lit by bright LED lights that means the fun can continue long after the sun has set.
Barooga Splash Park

Barooga Water Play Zone

  • Barooga Water Play Zone
    Part of the ever-expanding Barooga Adventure Park, this toddler-friendly space alongside Bullanginya Lagoon includes a gentle water slide and splash pad designed with younger children in mind, a spray loop, and some fun, interactive ground sprays. The Adventure Park area is also a winner with older kids, with four individual trampolines, two flying foxes and a huge climbing frame keeping everyone busy for hours.

Yarrawonga Splash Park

  • Yarrawonga Foreshore and Splashpark
    This relaxed area is right beside Lake Mulwala, and features spray fountains, a slide and a kiosk serving snacks and drinks. Bring your chairs or stretch out under a shady tree while the kids wear themselves out.

  • Splashpark at Yarrawonga Holiday Park
    Those staying at the villas, cabins and camping accommodation here can enjoy this fun water park. There are four slides, a tipping bucket and plenty more to keep everyone wet and amused for hours. A bonus for adults: there’s a large deck where you can relax, grab a bite and keep an eye on the kids.

Aqua Zone

Aquazone

For a fun-filled thrill, it’s hard to beat Aquazone at Lake Mulwala. This inflatable adventure park is made up of a series of floating platforms, towers, slides and bridges in the lake off the Yarrawonga foreshore. Party and group tickets are available, and it’s all supervised by trained lifeguards

Waterskiing and Flyboarding

  • With a large and flat 10km expanse of water stretching all the way across the lake from Yarrawonga Mulwala to Bundalong, the warm, dry and calm conditions are perfection for waterskiiers all year round. No dramas if you don’t have your own gear (or don’t even know how to waterski) – operators such as Skin Ski & Surf have gear hire and also run lessons for beginners, barefoot, advanced and wakeboarding.

If you want even bigger thrills this summer, soar into the sunny skies while flyboarding. With lessons and gear available, you’ll be airborne behind a boat in no time!

Swimming Pools

Right across our region, the Aussie summer tradition of a day at the local pool still thrives. Opening on 1 December, and with lanes set aside for lap swimmers and heaps of room for free-form aqua play, our pools are a great way to keep cool, have fun and work up an appetite all summer long.

Cruises

There’s a fun, relaxing and informative cruise for everyone: Choose from a family-friendly scenic cruise aboard the P.S.Cumberoona or M.V. Paradise Queen on Lake Mulwala, a trip on the pretty Cobba Paddleboat from Thompsons Beach in Cobram, or a visit to the majestic Barmah Wetlands on a Kingfisher Cruise.

Fishing

For lots of visitors to the Sun Country on the Murray, fishing is the main game. So whether you’re a keen warm-weather angler trying to land a prized Murray Cod, a casual angler wanting to spend some quiet time by the river, or a visitor hoping to teach the kids the art of landing a fish, we have more than 50 popular fishing spots to cast a line from a riverbank, creek or tinny.

Hook a Yellowbelly, Redfin or Silver Perch – or a Cod if you can – and that’s dinner sorted.

Kayaking, canoeing and sailing

Bring your own craft or hire one when you arrive. With more than 100 inland beaches between Yarrawonga and Tocumwal, there are lots of places to set off from and pull into for a picnic along the way. If you’re new to kayaking or canoeing, you can even find a guided tour to suit your group.

The tranquil waters of Lake Mulwala also attract sailing boats and pleasure craft. The Yarrawonga Yacht Club even hosts lessons for young would-be sailors, providing a fun safe way for little ones to get a taste of boating.
