When the water levels are up, the Urana Aquatic Centre and – with the permission of locals – nearby saltwater Lake Urana offer tranquility and the chance to spot native waterbirds and indulge in a spot of fishing.
For even more off-the-beaten-track floating, try the quiet, lovely waterways that run either side of the Newell Highway: the Colombo, Yanko and Boree Creeks are all great for paddlers looking for a natural escape.
