Murray Cod and Yellow Belly can be caught in the Murray River, Gunbower Creek and Loddon River along with Redfin, Carp and Bony Bream. Anglers may also catch fish in the many channels and lakes throughout the region.
Suitable baits include worms, yabbies, cheese, bardi grubs, shrimp and lures.
Fishing rods can be hired from the Gateway to Gannawarra Visitor Centre in Cohuna, along with handy information on where to fish, required licenses and regulations.
Gannawarra Shire supports “catch and release” of native fish.
There are many boat ramps throughout the region that allow easy access to the Murray River, Gunbower Creek and a number of the Kerang lakes.
