Visitors to Swan Hill have a wide choice of accommodation styles from motels to billion-star camping, but for many visiting the area just wouldn’t be the same unless they were camped right by the river. And, luckily, there are lots of well-equipped caravan parks, camping grounds, and free camping spots ideal for RVs, caravans, or just a simple tent.
Caravans, cabin-dwellers, families, and first-timers looking for recreation and shower facilities are drawn to caravan parks such as the BIG4 Riverside in Swan Hill, and the parks at Lake Boga and Pental Island.
There are plenty of opportunities to escape the crowds and find a spot all to yourself. While popular, the Nyah Recreation Reserve, 20 minutes’ drive from Swan Hill, is a spacious, shady free camping ground perfect for the self-contained caravan or motor home. What it lacks in creature comforts is more than made up for in riverfront views and pleasant walks.
The more adventurous should head out in the RV or pack a tent and claim your private spot along 7km of rugged riverfront in the nearby Nyah-Vinifera Park. Just the ticket for a bit of well-earned rest and relaxation.
