Join other Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA) photography enthusists and grab your camera, pack a picnic lunch and make your way up to Bogong Village for a day of alpine photography!

Established as a worker’s site for the Kiewa Hydroelectric Scheme, Bogong Village is surrounded by dense forest, with the power station maintaining a distinctive presence.

Open to people of all skill levels and experience, we invite participants to experience and respond to the stunning and remote setting of Bogong Village through photography.

Participants will have the opportunity to hear from artist Felix Wilson (Vaughan, Victoria) who undertook a residency at Bogong Village in 2019 – his photographic installation is presented as part of the current exhibition Notes from the Field at MAMA. Also joining will be Madelynne Cornish, co-founder of the Bogong Centre for Sound Culture (B-CSC) who will speak about the cultural residency, offer navigational tips for you to explore the area, as well as provide a brief recent history of the village.

The rest of day will be yours to explore and shoot at your leisure - either among fellow photographers or at your own pace. Bogong Village features restrooms and covered picnic tables – please bring food and water for the day.

This event is proudly presented with Turks Head.
