Their official name is The Royal Hotel but everyone knows them as the ‘Bridge’ so a few years back to quieten down a persistent customer they changed the sign on the roof to the Royal Bridge. And everyone’s happy!
They’re right at the northern end of the bridge over the Murray, have been since 1909 when permission was finally given for a second pub in the town.
They take great pleasure in welcoming first-time visitors, their many holiday makers who return each year and of course their regular locals. They have the coldest beer around and their kitchen speciality is the hot-rock steaks.
They have a pool table and five pokie machines at one end of the bar and on Fridays there’s their Dunny Raffle. Winner gets to choose between three miniature dunnies which contain one of cash, a meal voucher or a mystery prize. All proceeds go toward maintaining the local park.
Their rooms are comfortable old-style pub rooms with shared amenities and a kitchenette with all the makings for breakfast. Behind the drive-thru bottle’o there’s room for parking including under cover in the original stables.
