About Event Dates More Info

Write Around the Murray (WAM) is a five day festival of reading, writing and storytelling. Held in the vibrant regional city of Albury on the Murray River, it attracts world-class authors and presents eclectic and high-calibre events.

Stories are the springboard to engage readers, writers, artists and storytellers in spirited conversation and community celebration. Activities include a festival dinner, literary lunch, poetry slam, workshops, author talks, performances, panel discussions, writing competitions, children's events and a wood-fired oven event by the river.

What began as a community initiative to celebrate the opening of the Albury Library Museum in 2007 has grown to become the annual must-attend event for story lovers everywhere. The vibe is festive, friendly, stimulating and frequently surprising, with a great mix of free and ticketed events catering to all ages and interests.

Events take place in and around the architecturally stunning Library Museum, with the adjoining Retro Lane Café and sunny QEII square providing the perfect place to lunch, reflect and continue festival conversations.
