Caravan & camping

It’s all about being at one with nature, toasting marshmallows around the campfire, snoozing in a deckchair while a fish nibbles on your line, marvelling at the brilliant blanket of stars, or just watching the Murray River flow by.

You might want all the mod cons in a cabin at a caravan park in town, or you might just want to go it alone at a free riverside camping spot miles from anywhere.

Whether you’re with your family, a group of friends or spending time in glorious seclusion, caravan and camping experiences by the water don’t get any better than this.

Must Experience

Caravan parks and cabins

Every town along the Murray has at least one, usually several, quality caravan and holiday parks, perfectly located for caravan and RV touring or cabin stays ranging from affordable to luxury. Many are close to town with easy access to shops, restaurants and activities, others are in natural bush settings with river frontages and a full range of facilities. The parks are secure, friendly and great value, and typically feature safe places for kids to play.

Bush camping

For tent campers and campervaners, free bush camping in the state forests, national parks and red gum reserves along the Murray River between Albury Wodonga and Mildura Wentworth is hard to beat, with hundreds of sandy beaches and secluded spots connected by river tracks.

More established sites might have a picnic table, fireplace, and basic toilet facilities, or you can just pick a shady spot by the river bank and set up.

Visit outside the busy Christmas and Easter school holidays to have the best chance of snagging a prime spot!
