Paddlesteamers, corellas and crackling campfires aren’t the only soundtrack to The Murray. With a vibrant live, local and mostly free music scene, lovers of late nights, great beers and delicious spirits will love these showcase venues.

Round up your mates, assign a designated driver, get your drink orders in and jam out to music all weekend long. Check out our guide for the best pubs, bars and wineries to catch live music in the Murray River region.

Whether you’re after a midweek break, an ambient afternoon among the vines or weekend gigs that’ll have you fist pumping all night long – there’s plenty of ways to drink in the atmosphere of The Murray.

American Hotel, Echuca

Local acoustic music by the fireplace inside, bands and travelling artists from the Carpark Stage and regular DJ sets from the American Rooftop, the American Hotel Echuca has mastered the art of turning casual afternoons into late nights.

For classic pub vibes with a contemporary twist, they have you covered. Stationed right in the centre of town, you’ll find a vibrant line-up of craft beers, delicious cocktails, and an array of wines.

The refurbished hotel pays homage to the heritage of the region with recycled timbers from the original port of Echuca Wharf used in the beams, furniture and bar bench tops.

Settle down for lunch or dinner and feast on their menu from hand-stretched sourdough pizzas to Harry o’s American burgers, American classics and mains, and grass-fed premium Australian beef.

The Corporate Moose, Mildura

Decked out with American and Canadian-inspired interior The Corporate Moose is more than your average pub venue. The rear bar is where you’ll find The Musos Club Jam Night held on the first Thursday of the month or, check out their gig guide for a rotation of live music every weekend.

Sporting an American street-food style menu with smoked meats, loaded fries, nachos and burgers accompanied by an extensive range of spirits; whisky, bourbon, gin, rum, liqueurs, craft beers, and cocktails – this is not the kind of pub one leaves with an empty stomach. Dine in the undercover alfresco area, beer garden, dining room or across their two bars.

The Bended Elbow, Albury

The Bended Elbow is a modern Australian-style hotel located in Albury, serving up legendary pub favourites like chicken parmi, slow-cooked pork belly and Angus beef burgers.

Head to the pub during the week for dinner specials like Beer and Burger Night Mondays and Parmi Night Wednesdays. Dine in for lunch or head upstairs and make the most of Albury’s only Rooftop Bar on top of The Bended Elbow.

The Shiraz Republic, Cornella

Switch up the bar stools and dining rooms for sweeping vineyard views at The Shiraz Republic, a cellar door, winery and brewery on the way to Echuca from Melbourne. With indoor and outdoor stages, the fun never stops with free live music all weekend long.

Alternatively, for lovers of great beer, enjoy traditional English and modern-style beers, brewed onsite at the Cornella Brewery. Either way, set yourself up with a flight and pizza as the afternoon passes by.
