One of the best bits of The Murray isn’t the river. It isn’t the splash of a kayak paddle on the water at sunrise, nor the aroma of freshly baked bread at a country bakery. It isn’t finding just the right line of sight to the ninth hole, or a moment for quiet contemplation of award-winning art.
You see, we do have those things — and plenty of the good stuff, let us assure you.
But one of the best bits of The Murray is the people, plain and simple.
You see, it’s the people who leave you with a real impression of a place. They’re the memorable moments you find in between the planned stops. And the anecdotes you tell friends and family back home.
Some have lived their whole lives here. Others couldn’t resist the call to make it home.
What they all have in common is a real love for the region, and we’ve gathered up a bunch of our mates so you can hear it straight from them. They’re friendly and welcoming, just like the people you’ll find when you pay us a visit.
Having shared the spirit of our 'Mates of the Murray' last time, we're excited to bring you the second iteration of this campaign, because if there's one thing this region is brimming with, it's good mates! From the welcoming faces of Gerogery stretching all the way past Wentworth, embracing the Murray, Edward, and Darling Baaka rivers, you're sure to encounter them.
From fun-loving publicans and passionate community advocates to many other wonderful characters, their diverse experiences paint an even richer picture of our region.
So, allow us to reintroduce you to The Murray, with heartfelt stories and genuine smiles, courtesy of our wonderful mates.
Last year, we introduced you to our first "Mates of the Murray," passionate locals who shared what makes this region special. Their stories offered a glimpse into the heart and soul of The Murray, from vibrant communities to stunning landscapes and unique attractions.
Their stories are still full of local knowledge and heartfelt anecdotes. Revisit the tales of winemakers, artists and fun-loving farmers. These original mates painted a beautiful picture of the diverse characters who call The Murray home and the incredible experiences waiting to be discovered.
Take a trip down memory lane and reconnect with our original "Mates of the Murray." Their blogs and videos remain a wonderful source of inspiration for your next visit, filled with authentic local perspectives and a genuine love for this remarkable part of the world.
