Cultural heritage
Yarkuwa is a Traditional Owner organisation based in Deniliquin. It was formed in 2003 to ensure traditional owner knowledge was preserved in future generations.
Yarkuwa has a museum and gallery space at 104 End Street, where visitors can access and learn about the Indigenous heritage of the Wamba Wamba and Perrepa Perrepa People.

Traditional Aboriginal-based items, foods, clothing and local Indigenous artwork can be purchased from the centre.
Yarkuwa offer guided cultural tours of the Island Sanctuary, where you can learn about the significance of flora and what it’s traditionally used for, you’ll also have an opportunity to view a scarred tree. Call ahead to book a tour on 03 5881 3312.
