About More Info

Start this delightful stroll at the old Moulamein Courthouse, perched at the end of the footbridge across Billabong Creek. The courthouse served the region from 1848 until 1968. The current structure was built in 1890.

Head back across the bridge and left along the creek until you hit the Edward River. There’s a historic wharf here, with signs describing its use and talks of the old punt that used to ferry people and cargo across the river. Just across the road there’s a park with picnic and barbecue facilities, in case you want to stop for a bite to eat.

If you need supplies, take a quick stroll up Morago Street tol find whatever you need.

Back along the river for a short walk to Moulamein Road. Just one block north and you’ll find the new Moulamein Heritage Village. Continue north on Patterson Street and take a walk along the gravel track around the pretty Moulamein Lake. Cool off on a warm day with a swim, keep an eye out for black swans, pelicans and ducks, and relax under one of the three shelters that feature free gas barbecues.

If you’d prefer to split the walk in two, start at the Moulamein Heritage Village and either head north around the lake or south along the Edward River to the Courthouse.
