The Lonely Hut brings together David Frazer's The Lonely Boy III and thirteen rarely seen paintings from the Campaspe Shire Council's Rathbone Collection.
Using Frazer's solitary timber hut as a point of departure, the exhibition traces a lineage of lonely settler dwellings scattered across the Murray River landscape. These small, weathered structures, sometimes inhabited, often isolated echo with distance, silence and the weight of place. Through this quiet gathering of huts, the exhibition reflects on perspective, loneliness and the stories people project onto regional landscapes that you might easily drive by in the middle of nowhere, but they are often always somewhere.
