Dining out

Spoons Riverside Restaurant, Swan Hill

The dining scene along the Murray has blossomed in recent years, as passionate food lovers have embraced the region’s high-quality produce.

Enjoy highly-rated fine dining that draws an international crowd, or settle in for a sample of modern Australian, Asian or Mediterranean flavours.

Quiet and cosy, big and bustling or somewhere relaxing with river views and room for the kids to run around; indulging in delicious food with family and friends couldn’t be easier … or tastier.

Riverfront Dining

Nothing is better than enjoying a sumptuous dining experience right on the banks of the mighty Murray River. Suggestions for some of the best riverside cafes or restaurants include The Riverdeck Cafe in Albury and the Lake Cafe and Deck in Yarrawonga.

In Echuca Moama, you can enjoy wood-fired pizza by the river at Cape Horn Winery and fine dining at Morrisons Winery. In Swan Hill, Spoons Riverside is a must visit, and when in Mildura, you can dine riverside at Trentham Estate Winery, Gol Gol Hotel and the Dockside Cafe.

Chef Hatted Restaurants

The Murray is home to five Australian Good Food Guide chef hatted restaurants.

The River Deck, Bistro Selle and Miss Amelie are located in Albury Wodonga and Stefano's Restaurant and The Province by Matt De Angelo at the opposite end of The Murray in Mildura.

Country Pubs

As you explore The Murray, there’s one thing you can rely on: you’ll never be far from a local watering hole. When Europeans first started settling the area, pubs were never far behind.

And today, whether it’s a quiet drink with a friend, a slap-up meal with a group, an entertaining night out or simply a place to sleep overnight, country pubs along the Murray are still an ever-dependable option.
