Keeping history alive, the Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum is home to more than 500 artefacts relating to Lake Boga's proud history during World War II. The lake played an integral roll during WWII resulting in the No.1 Flying Boat Repair and Service Depot. The depot was built on the shores of Lake Boga and used as a safe haven for flying boats and amphibians where services men and women worked to repair damages and observe take-off and landing on the lake.
The circular circumference of Lake Boga made it the ideal site to build the hangar as there were unlimited choices for takeoff and landing in all directions and plenty of land around the foreshore.
Now, the Museum pays homage to the hard-working service men and women who worked at the site while displaying a range of wartime treasures, preserved for future generations.
The museum's star attraction is the historic Catalina Flying Boat, representing the type and size of aircraft used as patrol bombers during the war.
