Located on the banks of the Loddon River between Swan Hill and Echuca, Kerang is a regional service centre with a catchment of more than 14,000 people and a local population of 3,750.

The Kerang commercial centre offers an attractive landscaped shopping centre that includes major supermarket chains, hotels and many specialty stores. Take some time to explore the many retail shops in the CBD with homewares, food & coffee, clothing and fashions, electrical, furniture and giftware.

A "Charging the Regions' Electric Vehicle fast charging station is located at the Albert Street car park.

The Loddon River flows to the west of the township and provides picturesque views from the vantage point of the Kerang town levee walk. The area west of the river includes the Town Swamp and Back Swamp, unique natural wetlands providing habitat for birdlife and opportunities for kayaking. A new kayak launch facility allows for easy access to the Loddon River in Kerang Regional Park.

Across the warmer months the Kerang Swimming Pool and Splashpark are popular with families. A family fun destination, Gray's Bakery indoor playcentre and is perfect for fresh pastries and a great coffee.

Local events are held throughout the year including two ‘Great Day Out” country horse racing days on Boxing Day and Easter Saturday. An Easter art show and sporting events such as tennis and lawn bowls are hosted in town. A community market operates on the fourth Saturday of the month and a wide variety of events happen throughout the year. Annual events include the Kerang Show & Shine and Agricultural Show.
