Golf clubs & resorts

For decades, golf has been a major drawcard to The Murray. In 2016, the region was voted Australia’s number one golf destination.

Whether you’re staring down a par five at Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort with the mighty Murray River running the length of the fairway, or facing up to a daunting par three at Murray Downs Golf and Country Club with a large lake separating tee and green, you’re golf trip to The Murray promises to be both challenging and fun.

Courses range from links style resorts, many architect designed, to smaller local courses. Five-time British Open champion Peter Thomson helped design courses at Thurgoona, Yarrawonga Mulwala and Echuca Moama.

Fairways are lush, often bordered by spectacular river red gums, while greens are well-bunkered and challenging. Add to this welcoming clubhouses, on-course accommodation and a fine year-round climate, all set against the wonderful backdrop of Australia’s greatest river, and you have a golfer’s paradise.

The Murray courses offer something for players of all abilities and handicaps. Each has its own unique features but most are reasonably flat with broad couch-grass fairways and fast but true greens, while hazards, such as water traps and strategically placed bunkers the size of small beaches, present challenges for even the most experienced golfers.
